About Policy Navigator

An independent, non-partisan information platform for New Zealand voters.

Our Mission

Policy Navigator helps New Zealanders understand what political parties propose on the issues that matter to them. We believe an informed electorate is fundamental to a healthy democracy.

Our platform organises policies by topic rather than party, making it easy to see where parties agree, differ, and stay silent on the issues you care about.

Neutrality

We never advocate for any party or ideology. All summaries are factual descriptions of stated positions. We use neutral language and never speculate about intent.

Transparency

Every policy entry includes a source link, date, and confidence score. We disclose when AI is used and all AI output is human-reviewed.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any political party, government body, or advocacy organisation. We receive no funding from political parties.

Evidence-based

All policy information is sourced from official party websites, parliament.nz, and verified press releases. We cite sources for everything.

AI Disclosure

Policy Navigator uses AI (OpenAI GPT-4) to help summarise policy documents. AI is used to:

  • Extract key policy positions from lengthy party documents
  • Generate plain-language summaries of complex policies
  • Assign confidence scores based on source clarity

All AI-generated content is reviewed by humans before publication. Our AI prompt instructs the model to use strictly neutral language and never infer intent, speculate, or express opinions.

All policy data is sourced from publicly available official sources:
